MARQUEE AUDIO SUPPLIES GAIETY COMPLEX WITH RCF 4PRO
SERIES
When the Gaiety Theatre's production manager,
Séamus Shea, first met Marquee Audio at the
ABTT Show in 1997, and duly commissioned a major
sound system for installation in the landmark
Matcham-designed theatre on the Isle of Man, it
began a relationship with the pro audio suppliers
which has lasted a decade. Aside from the Gaiety,
Séamus also has the complex's Royal Hall,
Villa Marina and 250 seat Promenade Suite under his
charge, and last month he again consulted the
Shepperton-based company to advise on a compact and
flexible sound reinforcement upgrade solution for
the Promenade Suite.
The Promenade Suite is a low ceilinged venue which
is used equally for conferences and staging
emerging unsigned acts and so fast derigging was
essential to the brief. Marquee Audio's sales
director, Andy Huffer, recommended an RCF 4PRO
powered solution, and in addition to the four
monitors also provided two 4PRO 600's and four 4PRO
800 subs for the main PA. They also provided a
compact 16-channel Yamaha LS9 digital mixer.

"Andy Huffer
understood immediately what we needed, and put a
spec together which meets our requirements
perfectly," says Séamus. "The quality of the
up-and-coming acts appearing in the Promenade Suite
gives the venue profile, and the previous system
simply wasn't gutsy enough. "But what we have now
is a great-sounding PA that we can break down and
re-rig easily and quickly. Everything can be
controlled from the screen of the compact digital
desk without the need for excessive outboard
equipment, taking up further valuable space. The
whole thing is a straightforward plug-and-play
system."
Marquee Audio supplied all the equipment fully
flight-cased and with the necessary cabling. "Being
government owned we go through a tender process,
and Marquee were the successful suppliers on this
occasion," says Séamus.
